My company may be giving me the responsibility of taking care of the FMLA program. Currently I run all the programs we need for OSHA, DEP and EPA and some other smaller programs like drugs and alcohol and workers comp.. I have been told that my knowledge of workers compensation will make it much easier for me to get a job when I leave this company.
What about FMLA? Is this something that is worth learning about? Are people that know a lot about FMLA in demand? Is their a shortage of workers trained on FMLA?
For those that may not know FMLA stands for Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. Yes I believe that it is worth any time you can put into learning the ins and outs of this program. More and more employees are finding it necessary to use it, the more companies will need personnel to run it. It is also a program that will fit well with your resume of running various benefit programs.
The more that employees find that this program can work for them the more they will come to use it. When it began in 1993 it was because so many families were facing catastrophic situations within the family and their only recourse was to quit or be fired from their jobs which just put more of a burden on them. In my opinion this program helps in so many ways.
Just like companies that are ISO certified you will find that all companies have a need for knowledgeable personnel with this experience.

It’s unfortunate that when you ask any question in this section, you mostly get a lot of spam from easy money websites(which never are).
I don’t see why learning anything about FMLA wouldn’t help. The more you know, the more valuable you are to any company. AS to the demand, I doubt that anyone hires someone just to handle FMLA, unless they are a huge corporation. That would fall under Human Resources and be only one part of the job.
