Information on Forklift Training

Do you agree that guns are tools?

If guns need to be regulated, then why not regulate them as tools? Say, certification like with a forklift where you have to pass a certain set of qualifications before you can own one.

As a gun owner, I wouldn't mind doing that. It might be kinda cool actually.

Bad answer. Firearms of any sort are in fact tools. Without the conscious effort of the user is it really a weapon? I have to register my firearms, should I also be required to register my Phillips screw driver as well? It can surely be used as a weapon to do harm to someone. Or how about my newspapers? If I do it right I can turn a newspaper into a lethal weapon, there are courses in the Armed Forces that teach you how to make a weapon out of almost anything. By the way in case you are planning to give me a thumbs down I too believe in the Second Amendment and don't agree that it only applies to state sponsored militias.

  1. From my cold dead hands! I don't want the government to know how many guns I have. (perhaps I'm a bit paranoid)

  2. But sadly, people do not have common sense. Liberals, for instance do not see guns as tools. They see guns as evil living creatures that cause violence and that go around killing children.

  3. RIGHT to bear arms cannot be infringed.

It is a right, not a privilege. God gave us the right to defend ourselves & property.

So regulation is not legal. The government HAS NO AUTHORITY over our GOD GIVEN RIGHTS.

    Yes, firearms are tools.

  4. Yes and as with other tools people need to learn to use them in a safe and responsible manner. Starting around age 8 or 9.

  5. The problem is not with the people who own the guns legally (for the most part). It's with the people who own the guns illegally. I believe only law abiding citizens would go through certification (don't they have to right now anyway?).

  9. The problem is the Constitution does not list the possession of a fork lift as a right.

I have been on board fighting these silly gun laws since 1968. Any sort of certification program would be just one more door we would have to watch. They have already "Little bit" us to death. What started as essentially a ban on mail order firearms has mushroomed into 100,000 plus laws and ordinances so conflicting and convoluted as to be impossible to obey completely. We went from a mail order ban to banning whole classes of firearms and the complete banning of firearms in some cities.

All a certification program would do is offer one more choke point for gun owners. We will loose the right eventually, don't accelerate it by giving the enemies of the Constitution another place to attack.
