I want to get a job at a warehouse and they said I need to be certified. I have no experience. i keep seeing these online certification programs but that sounds like a scam.
im currently in virginia but im thinking about going up to new jersey
Most employers that use fork lifts in their business offer safety classes to get your certified once you are hired.
Or http://www.certifyme.net/ is OSHA certified.

Where are you? Generally your local employment agency would be able to guide you in the right direction.
I`d stay away from the net for this one.

Most places that hire you will certify you to drive their equipment since each piece of machinery is different. What kind do they want you to be certified to operate? I worked for Target and Shopko and at both places I was certified by someone who worked there who had been certified to train. At Target I trained others to run them, so it would seem that the company hiring you should be responsible for teaching that to you. You may be able to call them and ask what make, model etc (find out if it’s a walk behind or one you ride on too) their forklifts are and contact the company who makes them and find out who does training for them in your area.
I would stay away from online programs especially if they are asking for money to train you. It takes less than an hour to learn the basic functions of a forklift and safety stuff. It takes a lot longer to actually become good at running one. It’s really easy to damage product with a forklift (and that can be costly for the company) so they may actually be looking for someone who has run a forklift for quite a long time to avoid losing money from damaged product.
Good luck and best wishes!

If you are in the US, a person is certified on forklifts by the safety officer at each plant. The permit does not transfer from one company to another.
I’m curious as to who told you that you needed to be certified in lift trucks. Each lift truck is different, so there is no way to be fully certified in all types of fork trucks.
