I'm from Independence,Louisiana and I will like to know where can I go to be train, to operate a forklift.
Not sure where but most jobs train you on the job and you are certifed to operate their equipment. at least thats how they do things here in south mississippi

I'm not sure there is a training program. If you can drive a car you can operate a fork lift. I learned how to drive by operating a fork lift a million years ago.

In response “Legend”. I will agree that MOST people that can drive a car can drive a forklift. It is not the driving of the forklift that is normally the problem, it is the SAFE driving of the forklift that is the problem. Forklifts steer from the rear and have a tighter turning radius that a car and are much more subject to rollovers, especially if you are carrying a load. People that aren’t trained or aware of the limitations and load capacities of a forklift are eventually bound to have and accident. With only a seatbelt and a cage over your head to protect you…well you get the idea. Most people with “common sense” and a little training will probably be fine. But just remember not everyone has “common sense”.
