What you need to know about Forklift Training

how to become a safety manager with out college degree?

I have e.h.s. specialist, work place violence specialist, emergency management, ladder&scaffolding, certifications in construction.I also have OSHA 500 train the trainer,I am also certified to teach OSHA 10&30 hr. classes in construction. With 30 yrs. exp. with hands on exp. at craft level, supervision &management.Would I be classified as a safety manager.

If you are in the uk, do the Nebosh National certificate in Occupational health and safety. They also do one similar specialising in construction if that is your field. It costs about £800 and takes about 6 months to do at home.

Your experience will count for a lot, but some companies will want you to have a bit of paper saying you know your subject. Nebosh is an approved body, and with the certificate you can apply for technician level membership to Iosh (institute of Occupational H&S)

Nebosh also do a diploma, which takes about 2 years to do. Much more expensive but its the highest safety qualification that a person can do.

Good luck with it!
Have a safe day!!

  1. I do believe that experience is much more valuable at times than an education. I think that you have a good chance at it

  2. It would depend, in the asbestos remedial field you could get employment and perhaps in management as its a highly competitive field. You for instance could not become safety manager for a pharmaceutical company as its requirements do include college courses leading to a degree. Call the safety council of your state and make inquires. There are also the private sector of general contractors and design build construction firms have you tried them also.

  4. If you live in an area with a shortage of safety managers, then you would have a shot. I would have someone help you update your resume so you put yourself in the best light possible. Good luck, you sound like you have terrific experience. I would also get several letters of recommendation from prior employers, contractors, trainers, etc.
